BURTON BRADSTOCK PARISH COUNCIL

 

Minutes of the Annual General  Meeting of Burton Bradstock Parish Council held on 4th May 2010 in the Village hall at 8.00pm.

 

Present: Cllrs: A.Mackie,  P.Dutton,  G.Moody,  D.Venn,  D.Batten,  P.Middlemast,  P.Toms,  K.Delves,  F.Moore (Clerk),  J.Hill (RFO),  DCC Cllr: R.Coatsworth, I.Pitt-Aikens (Neighbourhood Watch), and fifteen members of the public.

 

1. Apologies: Cllrs: D.Dixon,  S.Pett,  WDDC Cllr: M.Parsons and I Wigglesworth (Internal Auditor).

 

2. Minutes of the previous Meeting 23rd April 2009.

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved, proposed by V.McRobert and seconded by B.James. These were signed as a true record by the Chairman.

 

3. ChairmanÕs Report:

The Chairman gave a detailed power point presentation highlighting the CouncilÕs activities during the past year. Details of his report are recorded in the Parish CouncilÕs minute book.

 

4. Financial Report:

Details of the CouncilÕs Accounts for the year ending 31st March 2010 were circulated prior to the meeting. The budget for the year 2010/2011 was also circulated.

The RFO went through the accounts and budget in detail highlighting particular variances.

It was noted that the precept proposed for 2010/2011 was to be reduced by £6,500.

It was agreed that the internal auditor, I Wigglesworth would audit the CouncilÕs accounts next year.

The Chairman reported that DCC have promised to pay all legal costs in connection with the Library, and that the Village Society had paid half the cost to the frontage repairs at the post office.

The accounts were formally approved by the meeting proposed by M.Southgate, seconded by A.Bristol. The accounts were formally signed by the Chairman.

 

5. The Parish CouncilÕs Website:

Cllr Venn launched the new website designated to the Parish Council and gave a power point presentation showing the detail regarding all aspects of Council activities. There is the potential for it to be used for a variety of other links and could become an archive store for the Council. Currently four councillors are active in setting up and developing the website. The Chairman thanked Cllr Venn and his colleagues for their hard work, and this was endorsed from the parishioners by B.James.

 

6. Neighbourhood Watch:

Mr I.Pitt-Aikens  reported that he had been the co-ordinator for just over a year and had been involved in assisting parishioners on a variety of issues such as, scam phone callers, cold sells etc. His details and contact numbers for advice are regularly in the BVN, and hopefully would be soon included on the CouncilÕs website. The Police were still holding contact surgeries in the village. The Chairman thanked Mr Pitt-Aikens for his presentation and his work on behalf of the Parish.

 

The meeting closed at 8.45pm and parishioners were invited for light refreshments.
