PARISH
CLERK
Duties
and Responsibilities
The Parish Clerk is ultimately
accountable to the Parish Council for the proper execution of his duties but he
should work in close liaison with the Handyman, RFO, Planning and Development
Committee as appropriate to ensure the effective management of Parish Council
affairs.
Particular
duties as Parish Clerk include
á
administration of
Parish Council meetings and the Annual Parish meeting; the setting and
promulgation of the agenda; taking, compiling and circulating minutes,
collecting together and distributing relevant papers as appropriate,
á
ensuring correct
administration of the meetings of
the Planning and Development and Finance Committees ,
á
ensuring that all
correspondence is dealt with effectively and in timely manner, including the
maintenance of a log.
á
management of
Parish Council handyman
á
ensuring
Councillor compliance with requirements for Declarations of Acceptance, Interest
etc in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Conduct, and compliance
with any new policy or procedure adopted formally by the Parish Council.
á
proper and safe
custody and accessibility of all Parish Council records and documents; ensuring
retention to meet legal requirements,
á
compilation and
maintenance of an inventory of all Parish Council owned assets of significant
value,
á
ensuring that the
conduct of Parish Council business is in accordance with the Burton Bradstock
Parish Council Standing Orders,
other new adopted policies or procedures and relevant directives from
higher authorities This duty to include
the routine review of the Standing Orders,
á
actioning any
reasonable task as designated by the Council or committees.
á
day-today
management of the running and upkeep of all Parish Council controlled
activities and assets,
á
recommendations
for tender and contract action for work in association with these management
activities.
